Must have at least 8 years of full service.
This time is divided between active and inactive services.
The maximum duration of your active service is two years. At the end of two years, you will be inactive for 6 years. Getting a two-year contract is almost impossible.
The most common term is active for 3 years and inactive for 4 years.
All contracts except NH are 8 year contracts. There are several ways you can live to be eight years old. You can do 2 for 6, ie 2 active years and 6 years on booking or on IRR. You can also divide it from 4 to 4 or 6 to 2.
